Et statsborgerskab er ikke absolut – ihvertfald ikke i Jordan

Human Rights Watch report says 2,732 Palestinians stripped of their Jordanian nationality in past few years to counter any Israeli plans to transfer West Bank Palestinians to the kingdom.

‘Jordan is playing politics with the basic rights of thousands of its citizens,’ group says.

Jerusalem Post skriver:

Nearly half the kingdom’s 6 million people are of Palestinian origin and Jordan fears that if Palestinians become the majority, it will disrupt the delicate demographic balance.

After all, it might spoil the negative image of Israel and undermine the myth of the totally “impoverished” West Bank that they carefully spin for their readers.
