McCarthy og Verona papirerne
Following the fall of the Soviet Union in the 1990s, enormous amounts of data became available, including the Venona papers:
Coded messages from the KGB and other communist intelligence agencies about communist agents in the United States (Evans, M. Stanton. Blacklisted By History: The Untold Story of Senator Joe McCarthy and His Fight Against America’s Enemies).
We also know now that CPUSA was a faithful creature of the Soviet Union. “Far from being mere indigenous radicals working for peace and social justice, as sometimes argued, the party and its members were subservient tools of Moscow-and those who weren’t subversive didn’t stay very long as members.” (Evans, Pg. 20):
From a composite of all these data, it’s evident the Soviet/Communist operation in the United States, as elsewhere, was vast, sophisticated, and effective, nowhere more so than in seeking positions of official influence. The Red networks reached into virtually every important aspect of the US government, up to very high levels, the State Department notably included. All of which was obviously congruent with the warnings of McCarthy and others who sounded the alarm about such matters in the late 1940s and early ’50s. There was in fact an immense conspiracy afoot, there were secret Communists burrowing in the woodwork, and these Communists were, in case after case, devoted agents of the Soviet Union. (Evans, Pg. 21).

Anden Verdenskrig i Baltikum

Nyere forskning i Sovjetunionens arkiver
Interview på Front Page Magazine med Olga Velikanova,
an assistant professor at the University of North Texas, where she teaches Soviet history.
Dr. Velikanova was among the first scholars to work with declassified Communist Party and secret police archives. Her research about everyday Stalinism, the cult of Lenin and Russian popular opinion has been broadcast by the BBC, Finnish and Russian radio and TV as well as the History Channel in Canada.
She is the author of “Making of an Idol: On Uses of Lenin,” “The Public Perception of the Cult of Lenin Based on the Archival Materials” and “The Myth of the Besieged Fortress. Soviet Mass Perception in the 1920s-1930s.”
Et enkelt uddrag:
FP: What are the recent developments in terms of the discoveries in declassified Soviet documents, the major archival findings since 1991?
Velikanova: Studies that focused on mass terror showed such magnitude of tragedy that even now we can’t give an exact total numbers of victims. But now they are more realistic than in Alexander Solzhenitsyn’s or Robert Conquest’s books.
681,692 people were executed in 1937-38; 3,778,234 were sentenced for counter-revolutionary activities from 1930 to 1953.
We learned from the archival sources that mass repressions started in the 1920s and Lenin personally SIGNED cruel orders to kill innocent hostages and priests.
The leading Russian archivist and scholar Oleg Khlevniuk summarized recently that up to 50 million people suffered from Stalinist politics and its consequences.
This total estimate embraces another number that became re-examined: the cost of World War II for Russia, 26.6 million people.
Studies in famines brought documented numbers of losses: 1921- 6 million, 1932-33 – 4-5 million in Ukraine and 1 million in Kazakhstan, 1947 – about 2 million.

The Soviet Story – aldrig vist på DDR2
A documentary film by a Latvian director that claims “the Soviet Union helped Nazi Germany instigate the Holocaust” will see its premiere April 9 at the European Parliament in Belgium.
The documentary, The Soviet Story, is directed by Edvīns Šnore, who spent 10 years gathering information and two years filming in several countries, according to the film’s Web site, sovietstory.com.
The English-language documentary runs 85 minutes. It is produced by Rīga-based SIA Labvakar.
Among those interviewed in the film are Western and Russian historians, as well as survivors of the Soviet Gulag.
The chief sponsor of the production is the conservative alliance Union for Europe of the Nations, whose members include four members of the European Parliament from Latvia, all members of For Fatherland and Freedom (Tēvzemei un Brīvībai / LNNK). Also supporting the film are the Rīga City Council and the magazine Tēvijas Sargs.
The premiere is scheduled at 18:00 hours April 9 in Room 5B001 in the PHS Building of the European Parliament in Brussels.

Most Norwegian high school students (65 percent) don’t know who Pol Pot was or what the Gulag means (64 percent).
The poll also revealed that more than a third of the students believe communism has improved the lives of people in some parts of the world.

The equivalent of just over one million Swedes lived entirely on social welfare benefits last year, down three percent on 2005.
Læs også om indoktrineringen af sveriges ungdom:
Nima Sanandaji skriver om kommunism i The Local.
“Few bother to question the official statistics from a communist country where thousands of citizens have lost their lives whilst attempting to escape on rafts to the United States. Cuba might have gone from being the richest country in Central American to being the second poorest due to Castro’s rule – but this has not stopped Swedish intelligentsia from spreading a positive view of his policies.”

Hvorfra stammer fredsduen?
