Penge i banken?

– “Get your money out of the banks. Due to an “emergency deal reached today in Brussels”, a one-time 9.9% tax is to be levied on Cypriot bank deposits of more than 100,000 euros effective Tuesday, March 19. Virtually overnight and with no warning of any kind, the emergency tax deal was imposed on the people of Cyprus without vote or debate. People ran to ATM machines today only to discover that the taxed amount of their cash had already been frozen. Nor is this emergency only inflicted upon the so-called rich as even deposits under 100,000 euros will now be taxed at 6.7%. – “If it can happen in Cyprus, it can happen anywhere,” worried British correspondent Anna Grayson told Canada Free Press (CFP) in an overseas telephone call today. …”

– Goddaw, do! Altså: hen i banken, hæv alt. ALT.

Filed under: Ægypten, Muslim World, TrumfEs — Tags: — trumfes @ 10:27

More than 500 Orthodox churches and monasteries in the occupied areas are in a miserable condition.

“Some of these churches and monasteries have been destroyed, others have been transformed into mosques, night clubs, army camps even stables. Our holy icons and other religious items have been sold to Europe and America”, the Archbishop of Cyprus Chrysostomos II noted.

He said that the Church of Cyprus has been long demanding a permit from the illegal Turkish Cypriot regime in order to repair these churches and monasteries, however there has been no response so far.

Jennifer Lopez aflyser koncert på NordCypern‏

Filed under: Historie, Hodja, Politik, Tyrkiet — Tags: , — Hodja @ 09:14

“Around 200,000 people, Greek and Turkish Cypriots, were displaced in the 1974 war and ethnic conflict which started in 1963″
“Lopez ‘would never knowingly support any state, country, institution or regime that was associated with any form of human rights abuse,’ a statement on Lopez’s website says”

Verden har glemt Cyperns forfærdelige skæbne

Turkey invaded Cyprus on July 20, 1974, under the guise of protecting the Turkish minority following an unsuccessful coup against the government of Cyprus by forces loyal to the military junta that governed Greece at the time.

Without an army, navy or air force, the Cypriot people had to rely on a few thousand lightly-armed national guardsmen to defend the island against a full-scale invasion, led by American tanks, helicopter gunships and jet fighters.

In a matter of days, the 40,000-strong Turkish invasion force drove nearly 200,000 Greek Cypriots from their homes, farms and businesses, turning them into refugees in their own country.

Greece attempted to intervene on behalf of Cyprus, but then-Secretary of State Henry Kissinger ordered the U.S. 7th Fleet to blockade the Greek navy with orders to sink the Greek ships if they did not return to their home ports.

More than 6,000 Greek-Cypriots were killed by the Turkish troops and another 1,600 (including five American citizens) disappeared behind Turkish lines. Thirty-six years later, there has never been a full accounting by Turkey of what happened to the 1,300 men, 116 women and 133 children caught behind the advancing Turkish army.

Mass graves have been uncovered on parts of the island where civilians were executed by the Turks. Eyewitnesses have testified before investigative commissions of the systematic rape, torture and execution of Cypriot civilians, including children, the edlerly and the disabled.

Since the invasion, more than 115,000 “undesirables” from the mainland have been illegally settled in occupied Cyprus. Turkey opened the doors of prisons and mental institutions and dumped the occupants to Cyprus.

In 1983, Turkey declared the occupied portion of Cyprus as an independent nation. To this day, the so-called “Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus” is recognized by only one country — Turkey.

The Turkish invasion and continuing violation of human rights in Cyprus has been condemned by every major international body, including the United Nations, the Non-Aligned Movement, the Commonwealth of Nations, the European Court of Human Rights and the Council of Europe. Turkey’s entry into the European Union has been rejected because it continues to occupy a current EU member — Cyprus.

Fed by billions of dollars in U.S. military and economic aid, Turkey thumbs its nose at international law and U.S. taxpayers. This is the same Turkey that continues to have one of the worst records of human rights violations in the world.

Turkey maintains 35,000 occupation troops (armed and equipped by U.S. tax dollars) on Cyprus to prevent the Greek-Cypriots from returning to their homes. It has ignored dozens of U.N. resolutions condemning the invastion and calling for withdrawal of all Turkish troops as a prelude for unification of the island.

As long as U.S. dollars flow into Turkish coffers, there is no incentive for Turkey to leave Cyprus.

Hussein Obamas skødehund

Now Britain’s Conservative Prime Minister has placed himself firmly on the side of the destroyers of human rights and against those who resist tyranny.

Some have speculated that he has done so at the behest of Obama, who is keen (of course) for Turkey to join the EU. If so, it would add bitterly ironic reinforcement to the impression that Cameron is a mirror image of his role-model Tony Blair. Blair was styled ‘Bush’s poodle’ for yoking Britain to the White House in the defence of the west. Cameron may have volunteered to be Obama’s poodle, yoking Britain to the White House in the cause of surrendering the west.

Until the Turks resolve the Cyprus issue I will fight to convince them that it is the only solution, said Fule, explaining that he sees Turkey in Europe in the future.

47-year-old Fule is the former Czech Minister for European Affairs. His Communist past and his studies at the Soviet Institute for International Relations in Moscow have been the cause of controversy.

Cypern: Ballade om bar i moske-have

Turkish Republic or Northern Cyprus’s (KKTC) Directorate of Religious Affairs has applied to state offices in Greek Cyprus to stop the construction of a bar in the garden of the Hala Mosque, which houses the tomb of Ümmü Haram, the aunt of the Prophet Muhammad, in South Cyprus, which has resulted in criticism from Muslims living on the island.
