Ferieministeren vil givetvis aflyse alle ferier for at kunne deltage – men hun må undvære canadisk selskab.

OTTAWA – “Canada will not attend a United Nations conference on racism next year, Immigration Minister Jason Kenney said Thursday. “Our government has lost faith in the Durban process,” Kenney told a news conference. “Canada will not participate in this charade. We will not lend our good name to this Durban hatefest. “Canada is clearly committed to the fight against racism, but the Durban process commemorates an agenda that actually promotes racism rather than combats it.”

The New York conference next September, dubbed “Durban III,” is intended to mark the 10th anniversary of the 2001 meeting in South Africa aimed at defeating racism. Canada and other countries walked out of that conference after Iran and several countries began ganging up on Israel. The conference, which ended days before the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on the United States, produced the Durban Declaration and Programme of Action. The 62-page document raises 122 “general issues,” among them “concern about the plight of the Palestinian people under foreign occupation.” It “recognizes the inalienable right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and the right to an independent state.”

But most offensive to Canada and several other countries were speeches laced with anti-Israeli rhetoric. Canada led a boycott of Durban II in Geneva last year, where Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad railed against the Jewish state….”

[…]

Last night U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, the Ranking Republican on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, called on the Obama administration to “announce publicly, right now, that we will stay away from Durban III, deny it U.S. taxpayer dollars, and oppose all measures that seek to facilitate it. And we should encourage other responsible nations to do the same.”

Unfortunately, comments made by U.S. representative Sammis last evening suggest that the Obama administration will again refuse to take a leadership role in denying legitimacy to the Durban agenda. At Durban II, President Obama pulled out less than 48 hours before the event, ruining chances of building a larger coalition of like-minded states.

(AP) “A Muslim woman claims that a Connecticut roller-skating rink discriminated against her because it wouldn’t allow her to skate in her headscarf. Marisol Rodriguez-Colon, 40, said she was “mortified” when she and another female relative showed up for a niece’s birthday party at the Ron-A-Roll rink in Vernon and were barred at the door.

The venue’s rules, posted at the entrance, read: “No Hats. No Headwear. No Exceptions.” – Colon said her religious hijab shouldn’t count under that policy — and tried to appeal to a rink manager. “We wear this for religious reasons,” Colon said. “But they didn’t want to hear that.” The manager, Colon said, gave the women two choices: take off the headscarves, or wear a helmet over them. Taking off the hijabs was “not an option,” Colon told WTIC-TV in Hartford. She said she has worn the traditional headscarf for 16 years and has it on “wherever I go.” – She and the other relative went back to their car and missed the party. – “I wear this with pride,” Colon said. “I was mortified — by asking someone to wear a helmet you are actually ostracizing us. “You are singling us out and showing everyone there is an issue — that something is wrong with these two women.”

Ron-A-Roll management issued a statement spelling out its “no headwear” policy. It said helmets are offered for safety purposes. “You are not allowed — you are not welcome here. That is what that says to me,” Colon said of the statement. She said she was insulted that the rink would deny entrance to people “because of what they believe and what they are wearing because of those beliefs.”  – The Council on American-Islamic Relations said yesterday it filed a complaint with Connecticut’s Human Rights Commission.”

Udmeldelse af EU – trin for trin‏

Filed under: EAD, EU, EURABIA, Europa, Hodja — Hodja @ 13:01

Lissabon traktaten er god på 1 punkt: Artikel 50. Her beskrives nøje hvordan man melder sig ud.

Her er teksten:

Artikel 50
Frivillig udtræden af Unionen

The founder of Human Rights Watch delivered a lecture lacerating the organization he had established for moral failures in its treatment of Israel.

“At the beginning, I told you how Natan Sharansky came to my hotel and gave me an autographed copy of his latest book Defending Identity. In it, he has some very harsh words concerning human rights organizations.

Having spent nine years in Soviet prisons, he has a very clear picture of the difference between free and totalitarian nations.

Here are a few sentences from his book: “The hypocrisy and double standards of the international human rights organizations reflect the disappearance of clear moral criteria that alone can guard human rights. A refusal to see the difference between free and totalitarian societies, between a state at peace and a state at war against terrorist regimes, undermines the universal values on which a claim to human rights is based.”

He adds: “A commitment to human rights is above all a commitment to democracy and freedom and to the right to defend them. To equate all cultures, to refuse to distinguish between those that are democratic and those that are not, is the profoundest betrayal of human rights. . . It is acceptable to hold democracies up to a higher standard as long as you recognize that democracies, by definition, are already maintaining higher standards.”

And he also says: “In its refusal to distinguish democratic from nondemocratic regimes, the human rights movement undercuts its own commitment to democratic freedoms and itself becomes a tool of undemocratic powers.””

Dermed trådte centrets evakueringsplan i gang.

The Supreme Court conferred today on whether arguments should be heard on the merits of Kerchner v. Obama, a case challenging whether President Barack Obama is qualified to serve as president because he may not be a “natural-born citizen” as required by Article II, Section 1, Clause 5 of the U.S. Constitution.

Unlike other eligibility cases that have reached the Supreme Court, Kerchner vs. Obama focuses on the “Vattel theory,” which argues that the writers of the Constitution believed the term “natural-born citizen” to mean a person born in the United States to parents who were both American citizens.

[….]

The last official report said Obama has spent $1.6 million in legal fees [keeping his papers secret], and the total is probably over $2 million now. You don’t spend that kind of money unless there’s something to hide, and I believe the reason he’s hiding this is because he was not born in the United States.”
