12 voldtægter i døgnet

Pakistanske kvinder oplever 12 voldtægter i døgnet, heraf 3 gruppevoldtægter.

“ødelægge pakistanske kvinders image i udlandet.”

“[O]ther parts of the world — say, Sudan — are as bad off as Iraq, or worse. So maybe the rule is: Do nothing, and you’re held harmless; intervene and fail to make things perfect, and you’re out. But where’s the evidence that Americans are worse off, in any tangible way, because of Iraq?…Iraq is not World War II; in terms of casualties, it’s not even Vietnam. Yes, the war is costing tens, even hundreds, of billions of dollars. But America’s gross domestic product is $13 trillion a year… The loss of Iraqi life? Well, sure, that’s tragic, too. But if ‘sectarian violence’ means anti-American Shiites killing anti-American Sunnis, and vice versa, how much sleep should Americans lose over Bush’s ‘failure’ to stop it? That may sound cold, but the killers are free to end their violence whenever they like” — New York Post columnist Adam Brodsky.

Græske penge forsvundet i FN

UNITED NATIONS — After sinking millions of dollars into a failed joint project with the United Nations, the government of Greece is asking where its money went.

The outgoing U.N. undersecretary-general for management, Christopher Burnham, said in a letter to the Greek interior minister, Prokopis Pavlopoulos, that taxpayer funds Athens entrusted to the United Nations were misused and mismanaged.

Increasing numbers of Afghan women are committing suicide by setting
fire to themselves to escape difficult lives,
according to NGOs based in the country.

They say women forced into marriage or suffering chronic abuse are killing themselves out of desperation.
Cases are said to be reported every day in the western city of Herat.
In Kabul, some 36 cases of self-immolation have been recorded this year.

“These are young girls at their most productive ages – between nine and 40 years of age,”

Ancil Adrian-Paul, a spokeswoman for NGO Medica Mondiale, told the BBC.

“These young girls are killing themselves from frustration and because they feel that there is no way out of them.”

She said the choice of self-immolation may be influenced by the fact that many of the women sought shelter in Iran, where the practise is more common.

Vatikanet siger tingene rent ud

Last week, Gordon Brown and his chief economist both said global warming was the worst “market failure” ever. That loaded soundbite suggests that the “climate-change” scare is less about saving the planet than, in Jacques Chirac’s chilling phrase, “creating world government”. This week and next, I’ll reveal how politicians, scientists and bureaucrats contrived a threat of Biblical floods, droughts, plagues, and extinctions worthier of St John the Divine than of science.

This week, I’ll show how the UN undervalued the sun’s effects on historical and contemporary climate, slashed the natural greenhouse effect, overstated the past century’s temperature increase, repealed a fundamental law of physics and tripled the man-made greenhouse effect.

Next week, I’ll demonstrate the atrocious economic, political and environmental cost of the high-tax, zero-freedom, bureaucratic centralism implicit in Stern’s report; I’ll compare the global-warming scare with previous sci-fi alarums; and I’ll show how the environmentalists’ “precautionary principle” (get the state to interfere now, just in case) is killing people.
