Hvordan kan FN have kommandoposter, hvorfra hizbollahs flag vejer?

Nic Robertson, of course, isn’t the only correspondent going on these Hezbollah-arranged tours, as CNN’s Reliable Sources noted yesterday. In a set-up to his interview with Robertson, Kurtz played clips of NBC’s Richard Engel and CBS’s Elizabeth Palmer relating their trips into the damaged areas, with Palmer providing the sort of disclaimer that Robertson failed to include last week: “This morning, Hezbollah showed journalists around the ruins of its former stronghold, but Hezbollah is also determined that outsiders will only see what it wants them to see.”

Critical incident stress management (CISM): benefit or risk for emergency services?

Department of Emergency Medicine, University of North Texas Health Sciences Center, Fort Worth, Texas, USA. bbledsoe@earthlink.net

BACKGROUND: Critical incident stress management (CISM) has become a common practice in modern emergency services. Described in 1983 as critical incident stress debriefing (CISD), CISM was originally marketed to help emergency personnel deal with ostensibly stressful situations they would encounter as a part of their work. OBJECTIVE: To review the status of the medical and psychological literature regarding the efficacy and safety of CISM. METHODS: Several pertinent databases were accessed and searched for scientific articles pertaining to CISM. These were subsequently analyzed for methodology and pertinence to the study topic. RESULTS: Numerous scientific articles were found concerning CISM. Several high-quality studies were identified, but many other studies lacked adequate methodology sufficient for use in an evidence-based medicine approach. Others were from trade magazines, non-refereed journals, and obscure mental health journals. Several meta-analyses and randomized controlled trials (RCTs) were found. Overall, these studies show that, at best, CISM has no effect on preventing psychiatric sequelae following a traumatic event, particularly post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Furthermore, several studies report possible paradoxical worsening of stress-related symptoms in patients and personnel receiving CISM. CONCLUSIONS: Despite the limitations of the existing literature base, several meta-analyses and RCTs found CISM to be ineffective in preventing PTSD. Several studies found possible iatrogenic worsening of stress-related symptoms in persons who received CISM. Because of this, CISM should be curtailed or utilized only with extreme caution in emergency services until additional high-quality studies can verify its effectiveness and provide mechanisms to limit paradoxical outcomes. It should never be a mandatory intervention.

“The “it” they referred to is shown in two of the pictures Paul took. One shows two flagpoles flying about fifteen feet apart at the U.N. compound on the Israel-Lebanon border. On one flagpole, to the left of the picture, is the blue U.N. flag. On the other flies the yellow flag of the terrorist group Hezbollah. The unmistakable symbol on the Hezbollah flag is the upheld fist holding an AK-47. The other picture is of a billboard that faces an Israeli outpost. It shows a Hezbollah fighter holding up the severed head of an Israeli soldier. The caption, as I have been told, says something like, “death to the Israeli dogs.”

Paul and John assured the Israelis that America didn’t know about these depraved displays. Now the word is out, and we cannot tolerate it.

The time has come to stop the U.N.’s game of coddling terrorists.

Om utroskab

Filed under: Ægypten, Citater, Imamer, Islam, Koran, Kristne, Labaner, Moske, Minaret, Muslim World — Hodja @ 12:14

[…] Hizb’Allah has been known to base itself right next to UNIFL  forces in the hopes that Israel would inadvertantly hit UNIFL in response. This is understandable from Hizb’Allah’s cynical [Cynical?  savage is more like it – Atlas] perspective, but harder to fathom in relation to UNIFL’s mandate to restore peace and security.

It is often noted that UNIFL failed in its mission, but even that is too kind, to the extent that implies that its presence is benign. In reality, UNIFL has provided more security to Hizb’Allah than it has to Israel increasing the likelihood of conflict and helping to make the current confilct inevitable. UN Humanitarian Chief Accuses Hizballah of Causing the Deaths of Hundreds in Lebanon
UN humanitarian chief Jan Egeland accused Hizballah on Monday of causing the deaths of hundreds of Lebanese civilians during the past two weeks of cross-border violence with Israel. Hizballah must stop this cowardly blending… among women and children,” he said. “I heard they were proud because they lost very few fighters and that it was the civilians bearing the brunt of this. I don’t think anyone should be proud of having many more children and women dead than armed men.

The Hamas newspaper this week chronicled with pride the ways in which different foreign leaders singled out the Palestinians as examples of ideal revolutionaries. The first leader cited by the Hamas weekly, Al-Rissala, for praising the Palestinians was Adolf Hitler:

“Adolf Hitler, while exciting the Germans of the Sudetenland – the Sudetenland is a German province that the Allies had annexed to Czechoslovakia after the First World War – told them in his broadcasts: Look at what the Palestinian revolutionaries are doing to Great Britain!!”
[Al-Rissala (Hamas Weekly), May 18, 2006]

It may be surprising to Western observers to see Palestinians taking pride in having been praised by Hitler. But it is important to understand that the utter revulsion of Hitler expected in the West is not true in Palestinian society. Palestinians can be found who are named “Hitler” as a first name: Hitler Salah [Al Hayat Al Jadida, Sept. 28, 2005], Hitler Abu-Alrab [Al Hayat Al Jadida, Jan. 27, 2005], Hitler Mahmud Abu-Libda [Al Hayat Al Jadida, Dec.18, 2000].

This phenomenon of Palestinians being named after Hitler was explained in an article in the official PA daily praising the rewriting of history and the doing of “justice” to Hitler:

“Even Adolf Hitler, who after the fall of Nazi Germany turned into a political horror for most of the writers and artists, during the last decades has started to return himself to his part of the picture. There are some in Britain who defended Hitler and tried to do justice for him. There are elderly people, among them Arabs, who still carry the name Hitler since their fathers, who were charmed by him, linked them [their children] with his name.”
[Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, April 13, 2000]

One article explained the phenomenon of naming Palestinians after admired foreign leaders – such as Napoleon and the Nazi General Rommel:

“Sometimes parents name their children with foreign names, due to the father’s admiration to a foreign personality. This is the source of the names: Rommel [famous Nazi General] and Napoleon.”
[Al-Ayyam, November 15, 2001 “Woman’s Voice” supplement].

The admiration for Hitler is consistent with the status of Mein Kampf, which a PA daily cited as a book on the best sellers’ list.
[Al Hayat Al Jadida, Sept. 2, 1999].
