A new report by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), Addiction, Crime and Insurgency:

shows the devastating consequences that the 900 tons of opium and 375 tons of heroin, trafficked from Afghanistan every year, have on the health and security of countries along the Balkan and Eurasian drug routes, all the way to Europe, Russia, India and China.

It documents how the world’s deadliest drug has created a market worth $65 billion, catering to 15 million addicts, causing up to 100,000 deaths per year, spreading HIV at an unprecedented rate and, not least, funding criminal groups, insurgents and terrorists.

Mr Jagland was once prime minister of Norway and became the foreign minister. He is a member of the Norwegian Labour Party.

In 2001, you will recall there was a standoff between the Australian Government and a Norwegian ship, the Tampa. The Tampa had picked up several people who were trying to get to Australia from Indonesia. The Government told the Tampa it had to take the people to Indonesia, that is, back to where they came from. The ship’s captain, on instructions from Norway’s then government, said it would not. They had to land in Australia.

One cold Canberra night I was snug in bed when my phone rang at 2am. It was foreign minister Jagland. I politely told him it was a little late for me although, no doubt, a pleasant early evening in Oslo. He started shouting. He hardly needed a phone from Norway. He “ordered” me to accept the ship into an Australian port. I politely explained our policy about stopping people smugglers and said the asylum seekers would be safe in Indonesia where they would be processed by the UNHCR. Not good enough, he yelled. The Tampa was going to land them in Australia. I told him it was not. It did not.

This Thorbjorn Jagland was a real party-political player. He was Labour, we were Liberal. He good, we bad. What a surprise; the same man has made the worst decision in Nobel Peace Prize history as he hated George W. Bush and Barack Obama is an African-American. He has done real damage to the institution. You cannot help a fool.

DDR om årsagerne til hungersnød

Når godt en milliard mennesker i verden er underernæret, må også Danmark hjælpe til med at udrydde sult i verdens ulande.

Derfor bør regeringen nedprioritere målsætningen om at støtte udviklingen af små- og mellemstore virksomheder i industrien og i stedet få landbruget op at køre i Afrika, når man netop nu forbereder Danmarks fremtidige udviklingsstrategi. Det mener Folkekirkens Nødhjælp.

Skriver DDR i dag om en rapport fra FN’s fødevare- og landbrugsorganisation, FAO, og Verdensfødevareprogrammet der i deres  årlige rapport om sult i verden opgør , at 1,02 milliarder mennesker er underernærede. Det er 100 millioner flere end sidste år.

DDR skriver videre om årsagerne til den omsiggribende sult:

Det er især udviklingslandene, der rammes. Ifølge rapporten er det høje priser på fødevarer, faldende indtægter og forsvundne jobs, der er skyld i stigningen.

Og en repræsentant for Folkekirkens Nødhjælp undlader selvfølgelig ikke at give klimaet medskyld.

Som vi ofte før har oplevet udelader DDR lige en detalje – fødselsraterne i de lande, hvor hungersnøden er størst. Man nævner kun de årsager, hvor man direkte eller indirekte kan give de rige lande skylden.

Demografisk studie over Verdens muslimske befolkning

A comprehensive demographic study of more than 200 countries finds that there are 1.57 billion Muslims of all ages living in the world today, representing 23% of an estimated 2009 world population of 6.8 billion.

While Muslims are found on all five inhabited continents, more than 60% of the global Muslim population is in Asia and about 20% is in the Middle East and North Africa. However, the Middle East-North Africa region has the highest percentage of Muslim-majority countries. Indeed, more than half of the 20 countries and territories¹ in that region have populations that are approximately 95% Muslim or greater.

Verdens værst regerede lande – hvad angår religiøs frihed

The U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom issues an annual report summarizing the state of religious liberty around the globe.

The USCIRF recently highlighted 27 nations. It recommended that the State Department designate 13 nations, those responsible for “particularly severe” violations of religious liberty, as “countries of particular concern” (CPCs). The Commission named another 11 states to its “Watch List” for engaging in “serious violations” and thus deserving close monitoring. Another three were cited for tolerating abuses and thus were deemed to warrant attention. The State Department tends to follow most USCIRF recommendations, but often with a political twist: in January it provided waivers for Saudi Arabia, America’s number one source of oil, and Uzbekistan, seen by Washington as an important military partner.

The Commission’s recommended CPCs are Burma, North Korea, Eritrea, Iran, Iraq, Nigeria, Pakistan, China, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam.

These are merely the worst persecutors. The Commission placed on its Watch List Afghanistan, Belarus, Cuba, Egypt, Indonesia, Laos, Russia, Somalia, Tajikistan, Turkey, and Venezuela.

Finally, the USCIRF pointed to Bangladesh, Kazakhstan, and Sri Lanka as worthy of scrutiny. All have hosted threats to religious liberty and sometimes tolerated violence against religious believers.

The recent Christian martyrs in Nigeria, Pakistan, and Somalia, in the past few weeks are not only martyrs for religion they are martyrs for all people who support religious freedom and the fight against “Islamic religious fascism.”

Victims of this hate are being killed by either state sanctioned laws, like in Saudi Arabia; or by Islamic terrorists like Al-Shabab in Somalia who are beheading converts from Islam; or by family members in the United Kingdom and many other nations who are killing family members for leaving the Islamic faith.

The one thing that ties all these brutal crimes together is the teachings of Mohammed and the Koran and Hadiths, which clearly allows this mass hatred. After all, it is the Sunni Islamic imams in Saudi Arabia and other nations who have introduced these laws and Islamic Sharia law is based on the teachings of the Koran and Hadiths.

In 2009 we have Buddhists in southern Thailand being killed for being non-Muslims; we have Christians in Pakistan being burned alive over a comment over a book; we have Nigerian Christian pastors being beheaded for not converting to Islam; we have Bahai’s facing persecution in Iran; we have Ahmadiyya Muslims facing persecution in Pakistan; and Hindus also suffer persecution in Bangladesh and Pakistan.

Will the world wake up to this threat and this hatred? After all, this persecution will not end because of silence on the contrary it will merely grow. Remember, the victims of this hatred are all moderates, irrespective if non-Muslim or Muslim because Islamic radicals are killing both Christians and Ahmadiyya Muslims in Pakistan.

This madness will only end when it is challenged and of course it will not be easy to stop because many Islamists support killing apostates. However, fascism in Europe was only defeated because nations challenged fascism but today we have a new fascism emerging, but this fascism is based on fusing religion with politics, and it is more dangerous because it is a global challenge. Therefore, will our leaders stand up to this new challenge or will they cave in?

Klimaforandringer som et lægeligt skabt problem

Vi har helbredt for mange på globalt plan. Det begynder nu at pege i retning af fiasko som efterfølger for de succeser, som læger generelt har skabt. Det hjemlige Brumleby var et markant resultat af, at den gennemsnitlige folkesundhed vitterligt blev øget og kom i fokus til bekæmpelse af globale sygdomme som kopper, polio og mæslinger. Vi kan fjerne nogle årsager til tidlig død, men den konsekvens, som dette har nu, har skabt fiaskoen, nemlig at nu fås små nuttede menneskebørn i bundter a en million, som alle overlever, som alle skal have mad, og som underligt nok også alle sammen vil have det godt. Dette er allerede nu ved at skabe fødevareknaphed i mange lande og naturligt nok værst for de dårligst stillede. Skal denne udvikling bremses, skal man op mod særdeles magtfulde faktorer som religion, tradition mv. Religionen hylder jo mangfoldigheden, men selvfølgelig kun af de rettroende, dem med samme psykiatriske vrangforestilling, som man selv bekender sig til. Ud fra et darwinistisk synspunkt må man forholde sig til multiplikationen af befolkningen globalt.

I mange af de samfund, hvor det sekulære livssyn enten er forbudt eller er en minoritet, mangler man jo tilsvarende den samfundsstruktur, som peger i retningen af social sikkerhed ved sygdom og specielt alderdom. I mange af disse samfund er tilsvarende en stor børneflok, gerne med flere koner, tegn på social status og mandighed. Skal vi forsøge at gøre noget på rodniveau, eller skal menneskeheden have nogle saftige krige, lassa- eller marburgfeber som en pandemi for at reducere den mest udtalte forureningskilde, befolkningstilvæksten? Det kan jo lade sig gøre uden at være alt for rabiat, Kina har sparet verden for ca. 600 millioner mennesker qua sin etbarnspolitik. Der er forskel på indvandrere

På Stortinget er det stille. Folk haster forbi uten å ofre forsamlingen et blikk. Demonstrasjonene er godt inne i sin andre uke. Alt skjer i rolige former. Kameraene og pressefolkene er borte.

Petter Eide, generalsekretær i Norsk Folkehjelp, tror tvert imot de klare politiske overtonene i konflikten er en del av forklaringen på nordmenns manglende engasjement. Som målt ut fra lidelse burde vært minst på høyde med Gazakrigen.

Ja der er jo flere årsager til, at nordmændene ikke er interessede. Den første og største grund er selvfølgelig, at Israel ikke er tamilernes fjende og så er tamilerne jo heller ikke islamistrer. Så venstrefløjen giver ikke en hujende fis for tamilerne.

All 16 mosques in Banja Luka, the main town of the Serb-run Republika Srpska, were destroyed in the 1992-1995 war.

Islamabad, 22 Feb. 2007 (AKI/DAWN) – Religious parties in Pakistan’s National Assembly are contesting the teaching of Pakistan’s pre-Islamic history in schools. Members of the six-party Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) staged a token protest walkout Wednesday over the inclusion of chapters about Hinduism, Buddhism and the ancient emperor Chandragupta Maurya in the history textbooks for senior classes after a heated discussion.

Five MMA members had raised the history textbook issue through a call-attention notice, but their claim that the inclusion of chapters they considered objectionable had caused a “grave concern amongst the public” was disputed by education minister Anisa Zeb Tahirkheli and some other ruling coalition members, who accused the religious parties of seeking to keep students ignorant about glorious periods of the sub-continent’s history such as the Indus Valley or Gandhara civilisations.

But the authors of the notice described the changes as part of what they saw as a government attempt to secularise the educational curricula.

“That may be your history, (but) … our history (starts) from Mecca and Medina,” MMA member Farid Ahmad Piracha shouted as he led his alliance’s walkout when the sessio chairman allowed party a Muslim League MP to voice his support for the chapters even after the speaker had referred the matter to a house standing committee for more discussion.

The speaker repeatedly said there was no harm in studying pre-Islamic history for the sake of knowledge as he and his contemporaries did in schools, colleges and universities but, to an apparent surprise of the treasury benches, accepted an MMA demand to refer the matter to the standing committee, which the alliance members could use to continue the controversy.

 The education minsiter earlier told the house that the decision to include the new chapters – the like of which existed in old history books but were removed at some later stage – was taken by an inter-provincial committee which also included ulema and rejected allegations that Islamic chapters were being deleted or curtailed from the curricula.

“If you don’t regard the history of Moenjodaro and Harappa as your heritage, then you may delete it. But if you are proud of it then students must know about it,” she said.

Geert Wilders is the latest victim of this enormous world machinery.

His crime is maintaining that Europe’s civilization is rooted in the values of Jerusalem, Athens, Rome, and the Enlightenment — and not in Mecca, Baghdad, Andalusia, and al-Kods. He fights for Europe’s independence from the Caliphate and for its endangered freedoms. He had received serious death threats even before Fitna was released.

Many Muslims in the West support him, but Geert Wilders’s principal weapons are his courage and his willingness to resist even his own government, which is slowly submitting to the OIC’s pressures. Wilders’s enemies pretend that he is an insignificant personality who makes “provocative” statements only in search of fame. In fact, if his motivation were self-interest, he could do far better by courting the OIC’s favors — as so many Europeans are doing, consciously or unconsciously — rather than risking his freedom and indeed his life.

Natten til den 3. februar dræbte den pakistanske hær 35 militante islamister i landets Swat-område.

Desuden er tusindvis af indbyggere flygtet fra regionen, hvilket tyder på forekomsten af mange civile ofre.

Men hov, hvor er Ritzau, Reuters og CNN til at bringe dramatiske beretninger og billeder af grædende kvinder og sårede børn?

Hvor er FN, EU, Den Arabiske Liga og den danske venstrefløj, når det gælder krav om våbenhvile og fordømmelse af den pakistanske hærs uproportionelle fremfærd?

Og hvor er Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke og Folkekirkens Nødhjælp, når det gælder anklager om krigsforbrydelser?

The British government will air ads on Pakistani television urging terrorists to not attack Britain.

Prominent British Muslims will star in the British Foreign Office-funded £400,000 (approximately Rs 2.9 crore)-campaign that is set to break on Pakistani television next Monday, ‘The Guardian’ reported on Tuesday.

Security agencies of Russia’s Kabardino-Balkaria Republic are concerned with increasingly active radical Islamism in Russia.

“One more source of concern is the wide-scale expansion of radical Islam into practically all regions of the Russian Federation. Cells of international extremist organizations have developed intensive activities lately in individual constituent territories [of Russia],” the interior minister of Kabardino-Balkaria Republic Maj. Gen. Yury Tomchak said at the meeting of public council at the Republican Ministry of Interior.

He reported that results of the investigation of Nalchik attacks in October 2005 proved that international terroristic organizations and their protйgй Shamil Basayev were involved in the attacks.

The Minister is also concerned with the activities of various religious sects and informal youth associations with radical views.

“There are signs of a unification process among radical groups and signs that criminal structures are being ousted from lucrative sectors of business and replaced by extremist groups,” Tomchak said.

Was it Iran, where homosexuality is a capital crime – at least 200 Iranian gays were executed last year – and whose president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, asserted at Columbia University that there are no homosexuals in Iran?

Was it Sudan, where tens of thousands of black Africans in the country’s southern region, most of them Christians or animists, have been abducted and sold into slavery by Arab militias backed by the Islamist regime in Khartoum?

Alongside the brutal public terrorism that fills the television screens, there is an equally cruel form of terrorism that gets almost no attention and thrives as a result: flinging acid on a woman’s face to leave her hideously deformed.

Here in Pakistan, I’ve been investigating such acid attacks, which are commonly used to terrorize and subjugate women and girls in a swath of Asia from Afghanistan through Cambodia (men are almost never attacked with acid). Because women usually don’t matter in this part of the world, their attackers are rarely prosecuted and acid sales are usually not controlled. It’s a kind of terrorism that becomes accepted as part of the background noise in the region.

Våbenforbud for præster

The bishop of Basilan, the restive island in the Philippines’ southern archipelago of Sulu, has rejected a controversial request for priests to carry weapons to protect themselves from Islamist terrorists.

The request came after a local priest Felimon Libot and his six security escorts were ambushed on 18 October. The priest escaped unharmed but four people were injured in the attack.

Det økologiske fodspor af en person fra Bangladesh øges 16 gange, hvis han eller hun rejser til USA, mens en somalier, der rejser til Storbritanien, øger sit fodspor mere end 13 gange.

De migrationsøgende faktorer kan kun løses ved at reducere effekten af forbrug og befolkning i de rige lande og støtte miljøholdbare løsninger i de fattige, siger OPT.

The University of Ranchi Thursday hurriedly cancelled its post-graduation history paper after thousands of Muslims took to the streets protesting against a reference to Prophet Mohammed they said was derogatory.

Islam is not a religion nor is it a cult. It is a complete system.

Islam has religious, legal, political, economic and military components. The religious component is a beard for all the other components.

Islamization occurs when there are sufficient Muslims in a country to agitate for their so-called ‘religious rights.’

When politically correct and culturally diverse societies agree to ‘the reasonable’ Muslim demands for their ‘religious rights,’ they also get the other components under the table. Here’s how it works (percentages source CIA: The World Fact Book (2007)).

As long as the Muslim population remains around 1% of any given country they will be regarded as a peace-loving minority and not as a threat to anyone. In fact, they may be featured in articles and films, stereotyped for their colorful uniqueness:

The West stands by idly as its foundations are being rent asunder.

Last Friday the UN’s Human Rights Council took a direct swipe at freedom of expression. In a unanimous 32-0 decision, the Council instructed its “expert on freedom of expression” to report to the Council on all instances in which individuals “abuse” their freedom of speech by giving expression to racial or religious bias.

The measure was proposed by paragons of freedom Egypt and Pakistan. It was supported by all Arab, Muslim and African countries – founts of liberty one and all. European states abstained from the vote.

The US, which is not a member of the Human Rights Council tried to oppose the measure.

• Muhammad did NOT change women’s lives for the better,
• Muhammad ordered to kill those who have left Islam, his critics & 800 unarmed Medinan Jews, involved in raids & demanded his share of the booty: and that his version of heaven would make any Amsterdam whorehouse madam blush.

The most effective clinch was when one of our contributors highlighted books written by prominent (so-called ‘moderate’) Muslims proving exactly our points : that Aisha WAS 9 years old when she was deflowered, that Islam’s heaven WAS about the promise of sex, that Jihad WAS about killing infidels & that prominent Muslims themselves are confused about which is the real Islam [and that from a religion which, above all, claims to be 'clear & concise'].

In Islam humans are “slaves of Allah”, they are allowed to use their intellect only if it “hardens their belief in Islam.”

In the west freedom is cherished. In Islam morality is handed down from primitive Arabs.

In the west you refer to your own conscience and use logical deduction in order to differentiate between morality and immorality.

In Islam love does not exist. It’s all lust. In the west love can be carried by a letter to someone thousands of miles away. Victims of trauma and rape are beaten and killed in Islam. These same people are offered therapy and support in the West, their tormentors prosecuted.

No one pretends that every thing is perfect in the west. In Islam the iron rule works without a hitch, it’s perfect.

Last week it chanced that I was directed by a search engine to this website. The section titled “stories not told before” immediately caught my attention. I stayed up till 5 in the morning and read about half of it.

I went to bed and woke up next afternoon convinced that I’m a Muslim no longer.

With every successful battle against local unbelievers, especially after the critical early battle against the Meccans, more Bedouin joined the umma. Once united, the Bedouin warriors of the umma turned outward, teaching the world the meaning of jihad, holy war. The rest, as they say, is history.

A resolution introduced by Islamic nations, focuses on combating the “defamation of religions.”

The motion on defamation of religions has been a priority for the 57-nation Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) since 9/11. It took on new impetus following a Danish newspaper’s publication in 2005 of cartoons satirizing Mohammed.

Introduced by Pakistan on behalf of the OIC, it passed on Tuesday by a 108-51 margin, with 25 abstentions. As with many of the other votes, the U.S. lined up with democracies in Europe, Asia and elsewhere against developing nations, including repressive regimes.

Although the resolution refers to defamation of “religions,” Islam is the only religion named in the text, which also takes a swipe at counter-terrorism security measures.

It expresses alarm about “discrimination” and “laws that stigmatize groups of people belonging to certain religions and faiths under a variety of pretexts relating to security and illegal immigration.”

Muslim minorities are subjected to “ethnic and religious profiling … in the aftermath of the tragic events of 11 September 2001,” it says.

The resolution decries “the negative projection of Islam in the media” and voices “deep concern that Islam is frequently and wrongly associated with human rights violations and terrorism.”

OIC secretary-general Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu earlier this month addressed an international conference on “Islamophobia,” held in Turkey, and told the gathering that freedom of expression was being used as a cover in the West to promote anti-Islam sentiment.

The OIC soon will release its first-ever annual report on “Islamophobia.”

Det er jo utroligt, at man overhovedet skal hjælpe sådan et uhyre.

Arvelige sygdomme har stor udbredelse i den arabiske verden

Patients with genetic diseases cost the Arab world USD 13 billion annually, a medical expert said on Saturday.

Ghazi Omar Tadhmori, Assistant director of the Centre for Arab Genomic Studies (CAGS), affiliated to the Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences, said genetic diseases in the Arab region had increased the burden on the health institutions.

In his lecture on genetic diseases in the Arab countries delivered at the Arab Gulf University, Tadhmori noted that health figures show that such diseases were on the rise in the UAE, Bahrain and Oman.

There are more than 240 genetic diseases in the UAE, 114 in Bahrain and 250 in Oman, a matter that prompts fresh ideas on the genetic variation of that geographically small region. More data will be gathered about the rest of the Arab countries over the coming years.

Interim statistics suggest there are about 850 genetic diseases in the Arab world, that could exceed 1,000 when data collecting is completed, he said.

A Catholic weekly newspaper in Malaysia has been told to drop the use of the word “Allah” in its Malay language section if it wants to renew its publishing permit, a senior government official said Friday.

The Herald, the organ of Malaysia’s Catholic Church, has translated the word God as “Allah” but it is erroneous because Allah refers to the Muslim God, said Che Din Yusoff, a senior official at the Internal Security Ministry’s publications control unit.

“Christians cannot use the word Allah. It is only applicable to Muslims. Allah is only for the Muslim god. This is a design to confuse the Muslim people,” Che Din told The Associated Press. The weekly should instead, use the word “Tuhan” which is the general term for God, he said.

After the Taslima Nasreen issue, another controversy is brewing in West Bengal over a book on India’s former president S. Radhakrishnan which contains a picture of Prophet Mohammed.

‘There is no picture of Prophet Hazrat Mohammed in Islam. It is unethical to publish such pictures as it hurts the sentiments of Muslim community,’ Shahi Imam of Tipu Sultan Mosque, Moulana Noorur Rahman Barkati, told IANS.

He said such controversies create differences between the Hindu and Muslim community and disturb communal harmony.

Media reports said the book, published by a New Delhi-based publisher six months ago, has created a stir in the state that has become extremely sensitive to communal issues of late.

Abdus Sattar, West Bengal minority’s development minister, has demanded a ban on the sale of the book.

Publishing such a ‘picture’ is ‘wrong and uncalled for’ as there cannot be any picture of the Prophet, Sattar wrote in a letter to Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya. ‘A decision on the book is urgently required,’ Sattar said.

He said the book was being sold at several bookstalls on College Street, the city’s largest book market.

‘I have told the chief minister that the book should not be sold in this state and the matter should also be taken up with the Centre,’ the minister said.

The publisher has been quoted as saying that if the book had indeed hurt the sentiments of any community, the company was even ready to destroy the existing copies.
